Motorola Droid Maxx and Droid Ultra were expected to be something really off the hook. As Droid series have always been the front line Smartphones with cutting edge features.
Motorola Droid Maxx and Droid Ultra are a little disappointing flagships offered by Motorola. Most of the users were expecting these phones to have competing features like Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One. But, both the phones, are just mere replicas of Moto X. As both the cell phones offer the same features, some of other features offered by them are still way behind the market standard.
The problem is that Motorola Droid series was considered as the front line flaghships of the company. However, it seems like Google is more interested in making Nexus to be their front line flagship now. Droids are just complimentary cell phones and we see no future in these two smartphones. So before going ahead to buy this phone, do give a little thought to our views on it.
Specifications of Motorola Droid Maxx and Droid Ultra
As compared to Moto X, Motorola Droid Ultra is just a slab of glossy black plastic, which feels greasy and boxy. Even considered Kevlar by Motorola, it’s not even close. As dropped by a few, chunks of broken plastic were collected by most of the users. It’s again thicker than the Droid RAZR and it feels a little smaller than the previous ones as it doesn’t have a bezel. It gives more sort of a toy feeling and not real droid!
Again, there is no clear edge on the current Moto X in terms of specifications and features. Both the phones come with a Dual Core processor and have 5 inches AMOLED screens with a resolution of 1280*720 p. So these are not even full HD like Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One. The camera isn’t also according to the expectations as it gives bizarrely inconsistent picture quality even from a 10-MP lens. We are not claiming it to be the worst of all, but the number of great pictures taken by it are nearly equal to the number of blunders we faced in the picture quality.
There is only one new nifty little feature in these phones known as Droid Zap. The name is again a disaster but the feature is quite handy to use. You can simply swipe up with two fingers on any photo you took to share it on your local network. Any other Droid or an Android phone can swipe down to view that. However, you need a droid to access this feature.
As discussed before, both the phones are the exact replicas of Moto X in terms of features, but when it comes to the screen quality, both are a failure. As they offer the same resolution but on a 5 inches screen. So Moto X will always has a better screen quality.
Our Final Opinion on Motorola Droid Ultra and Droid Maxx
In our opinion, if you don’t have any screen quality issues, and you’re not a heavy user, and also, if you are more sort of a gamer, only then you’re gonna like the looks and feel of these phones. However, these are nothing as special as Moto X. The only great features they have are the incredible battery life. Otherwise we will definitely advise you to opt for a Moto X. Customize it according to your own color choice.
